O videoporteiro tem dupla função: câmara de vigilância e intercomunicador. Proporcionando o controlo ao acesso às instalações, e monitorizando a segurança da porta de entrada. Com a possibilidade de um leitor de RFID integrado para a entrada das pessoas autorizadas de forma segura e, sem necessidade de chave. Uma das comodidades prende-se com o facto de ser possível responder sempre que tocarem à porta através do telefone sem fios.
